My experience:
As you move top the hill, you will enjoy the thrilling ride which at every turn unveils new rows of hills. Standing at the viewpoint, which is more than 5,000 ft. above sea level, one can feel the calming vibes and cool breeze. The fog and mist adds amazing beauty to the view; feels like nature plays hide and seek with us.
As said by Nelson Mandela:
“After climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb.”
As we climbed one hill after another, we were amazed to see a new one and couldn’t stop ourselves from exploring the next hill. You will find yourself trapped in nature’s beauty.

Madikeri is the closest town to Mandalpatti at a distance of around 20 kms (via Abby falls).
The captivating view, the feel, the blissful moments we had at Mandalpatti will always remain in our memories.
This is a must visit place if you ever go to Coorg. Not to be missed.
Notes:
Once you reach the checkpoint make sure you carry all necessary stuff (food, water) as there are no shops available after crossing the checkpoint.
- Hire a cab from Madikeri and head towards Mandalpatti.
- You can either go via Abby falls or via Makkanduru.
- Once you reach the Mandalpatti forest checkpoint, park your vehicle there. To reach to Mandalpatti top, you can either take a jeep as the road is narrow and bumpy or walk if you love to trek.
- To reach to the viewpoint, you need to walk till you reach the top.
